The tourist sector is the engine of Alange’s economy. The Town Hall and local businesses, conscious of the importance of uniting their efforts, decided to create a combined public and private body for the management of tourism, allowing them to work in unison for the growth of the tourism sector. This philosophy of change became a reality with the support of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, based on the project presented to the national conference for the creation of Joint Authorities for Tourism Management.
The first actions for the creation of a Joint Authority for Tourism Management were the design of a strategic plan for tourism in Alange, a communal document participated in by social, economic and political delegates, and which constituted a work manual for designing events of tourist interest in the region.
The positioning strategy, that the strategic plan proposed, is that Alange should be perceived as a location in which to enjoy healthy experiences. In accordance with this strategy, it was proposed that the identifying brand should be: “Alange, healthy experience”.
With the strategic plan completed, we created the combined body called “Alange, Tourist Destination” that assumes a new methodology for the operation, planning and management of the destination, based on public and private co-responsibility, with the ability to integrate and develop a strategic vision of the tourism model proposed in the strategic plan, that contributes to the sustainability of the destination, the growth of the sector, and the welfare of the population.
