Water is undoubtedly the undisputed protagonist of Alange
Water in Alange is the undeniable protagonist of its natural surroundings, not only for being a place rich in springs, wells, or springs with special characteristics but also for the proximity of the reservoir and the rivers that flow into it.
The Springs. Among the springs, we can mention the Fuente de La Jarilla (whose waters are the most appreciated by the locals for consumption), the Fuente del Baño (the spring that supplies the Spa), the Fuente de Huerto Moral, and the Fuente de la Huerta de "La Joruga," among others. All of these springs make Alange one of the towns with the richest non-chlorinated waters in Extremadura.
The Rivers. The municipality is surrounded by rivers that supply their waters to the reservoir, such as the Matachel (a tributary of the Guadiana), the San Juan, the Palomillas, the Valdemedel, and the Bonhabal, all of which, in turn, are tributaries of the Matachel.
The Reservoir. It is the most modern construction in Alange. Located to the west of the town, with a reservoir area of 50 km² and a capacity of 852 million cubic meters, it collects water from the previously mentioned rivers, intended for irrigation, supply, and electricity generation.
The reservoir allows for the recreational and tourist use of its hydrography, opening up a wide range of possibilities for adventure and water sports for visitors who want to experience new sensations in a privileged natural setting.
